I just finished reading this book today, and I really enjoyed it. I has actually made me feel sad that we have forgotten the art of writing letters...email just isn't the same...

Edible Bouquets and Pumpkin Pie
Elizabeth and Sam helped me with the pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. Don't you like how Sam has his hand out, telling Elizabeth to stay out of his way while he is stirring?
Kipp brought home an edible fruit bouquet from work. The kids were in awe of such a marvelous invention. They both climbed up to the table (note that Sam is ON the table so as to get as close as possible to the sweet goodness!) and ate fruit to their hearts' content. They thought they were in heaven!
A photo of Ethan smiling was a welcome surprise. That NEVER happens! Ha Ha, Ethan, caught you unawares!

Bumper Crop!
In spite of the the rainy weather this year, it has been a bumper crop. I think that is thanks to the few weeks of summer weather in September. We are now back to cold, so after a few nights of covering the tomatoes with sheets (and still having some of them freeze), Kipp picked the crop last weekend to save it from the snow.

Baby Abigail -- Angel Baby
Baby Abigail joined the family on September 4. We love her and treasure her sweet personality, her marvelous eating and sleeping habits, her cute faces, and everything she does in general. I have enjoyed spending time with her and also her wonderful siblings and parents over the past month. I will never ever get enough of holding a tiny newborn. I could just watch and hold her all day.
Catching Monsters
Kipp had the greatest idea last night. Sam and Elizabeth were over for the evening, so he put the headlamp on Elizabeth, and we all wandered the house in the dark for about 40 minutes, "looking for monsters" upstairs, downstairs, main floor, under the piano...Greatest game ever for a 3 year old. Sam thought it was great also -- as long as he had someone to hold his hand.

The Gardener
Elizabeth Blake loves the garden...She loves the flowers, including the clover and dandelions. She loves to smell them, pick them and water them. She loves the raspberries. She loves to pick them and more importantly - EAT them. She even loves vegetables. Beans, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, zucchini. Ants, bees, ladybugs and butterflies. She calls the butterflies to land on her hand, but they don't seem to understand. Oh what fun it is to experience it all through her eyes. (Even when she picked ALL the windflowers...some hadn't even opened up yet.) I am blessed to have such a sweet granddaughter, and to have been able to have her close by this summer.

XLV
I hit a milestone last Saturday, and it didn't even hit me that it was coming up until I called my Great Auntie Marje on Friday.
Friday was her 90th birthday, and I am her almost twin. We used to celebrate our birthdays together when I was a little girl. I always felt special, because she would send me a card on my birthday. Just me, because we were nearly twins. Anyways, I am now exactly 1/2 of her age...I think I have reached the middle...and then the questions started...what have I done? What do I still want to do? I sat in the temple on Saturday, and contemplated these questions. I would like to live with more JOY. I would like to focus on making this half of my life more focussed on living a Christ-like life, and loving myself and my neighbor better. I want to do better at using my time more usefully, and I need to set some new goals. I am excited for the next 1/2!
